Twisted Pair

This two day course provides a technician with the skills and knowledge to competently cable integrated voice and data systems to meet the requirements of Australian Standard AS3080-96.

Structured twisted pair cable technology is the latest cabling for joint telecommunications operations and supports the high data rates currently needed in a commercial premises installation.

Course Content:

Design principles and installation requirements to AS3080-95

Design and provisioning principles and installation requirements to AS3080-951

Distinguish between UTP, FTP, and STP in properties and use

Selection of cable and cabling hardware

Cable and cable hardware characteristics which determine structured performance and the impact of cabling environment on these characteristics

Installation of structured cable and cable hardware

Recognise and rectify structured cabling installation non-compliance

Identify typical computer and LAN cabling systems and topologies

Test and certify a structured cabling installation

Produce test documentation in accordance with AS3080-95 and AS3085.1

Advance bookings are essential: Structured Twisted Pair (Category 5) is a hands-on course. Class size is small so each delegate receives maximum training.

Payment is required two weeks in advance of course.

Cancellation of booking less than 10 working days prior to starting date attracts a 50% administration charge.

No refund is payable for non-advice/non-attendance
